Top 10 Malawi Missions Trip Misconceptions

10. We are not going there to try and see Madonna nor to adopt a child.

9. We will not be going on any safaris while there.

8. There is no danger of being kidnapped and held for ransom (don’t watch the show Locked up Abroad).

7. You cannot contract HIV by talking, playing, or working with affected persons.

6. The majority of the Malawian people claim to believe in some form of Christianity, this is not a hostile toward Christians region.

5. By going on this mission for 2 weeks, we will not stop our year round service to those in need in the United States.

4. This country is not at war or known for violence (they have bigger problems to worry about).

3. This trip has a relatively low risk for contracting Malaria (we’ll be there in the dry winter season).

2. We have no intentions of permanently staying in Malawi.

1. Malawi is not code word for Maui; this is not a leisure trip! A trip to Maui would be nice.
